Learn About Us

Worldwide non-profit charity organization

Ikusasa Lethu Youth Project (ILYP) is a registered non-profit organization (NPO 021-792) dedicated to uplifting communities through a wide range of social welfare, education, and healthcare initiatives.

Since our founding in 2001 by Joey Monane, we have remained steadfast in our commitment to transforming lives, particularly in the Freedom Park community and beyond.

Through compassionate care, strategic partnerships, and sustainable programs, we strive to create an environment where children, youth, and vulnerable individuals have the opportunity to thrive and reach their full potential.

At ILYP, we provide holistic support and empower individuals through life-changing programs.

1️⃣ Supporting Orphaned & Vulnerable Children

We offer safe spaces, care, and education for children affected by poverty, HIV/AIDS, and loss. Our programs ensure:

  • ✔️ Orphaned children receive food, shelter, and essentials.
  • ✔️ Access to education, mentorship, and psychological support.
  • ✔️ Life skills training for independence and self-sufficiency.

2️⃣ Promoting HIV/AIDS Testing & Prevention

We combat HIV/AIDS stigma through awareness, testing, and connecting individuals to treatment. Our initiatives include:

  • ✔️ Community-based HIV testing and counseling.
  • ✔️ Educational workshops on prevention and safe practices.
  • ✔️ Support groups for individuals and families.

3️⃣ Caring for the Elderly & Sick (Home-Based Care)

Many elderly lack support and healthcare. We provide:

  • ✔️ Home-based medical care and social support.
  • ✔️ Counseling and companionship to combat loneliness.
  • ✔️ Assistance with daily tasks, medication, and nutrition.

4️⃣ Providing Shelters & Support for Displaced Individuals

We assist individuals facing homelessness, abuse, or displacement by:

  • ✔️ Offering temporary shelters and safe spaces.
  • ✔️ Providing emergency relief like food and clothing.
  • ✔️ Connecting individuals to jobs, counseling, and housing.

5️⃣ Education & Mentorship Programs

Education is key to breaking poverty cycles. Our programs empower youth through:

  • ✔️ After-school tutoring, career guidance, and skills training.
  • ✔️ Scholarships and bursary assistance.
  • ✔️ Youth mentorship initiatives to inspire leaders.

6️⃣ Combating Substance Abuse & Promoting Rehabilitation

Substance abuse harms families and communities. We address this crisis by:

  • ✔️ Raising awareness on drug and alcohol abuse.
  • ✔️ Providing counseling, rehab referrals, and peer support.
  • ✔️ Running youth programs offering alternative pathways.
